My Background and Approach

My theoretical orientation for counseling can be described as integrative, as I use conceptual frameworks from several different perspectives when appropriate for individual clients and specific phases of treatment. The theoretical perspectives I find most helpful for clients include Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, Somatic Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the neurobiology of trauma as well as other trauma-informed lenses. Ultimately, I aim to provide individuals with a warm, empathic, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where they can feel safe to express themselves and heal. Throughout my time in a private practice setting, I supported my clients through various stressors: self-esteem issues, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, C-PTSD, inter-personal conflict, sexuality, and gender identity.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a woman of color mental health practitioner, I am geared toward serving marginalized communities, including female-identifying, minorities, LGBTQIA+, and emerging adults. Within today's mental health system, individuals of color and other disenfranchised groups, specifically young people, often don't receive mental health resources that cater to the intersection of our cultural and psychological needs. I am dedicated to rewriting this script.
